Gold Country Campground Resort is a private resort not too far off HWY 88 in beautiful Pine Grove, CA., just a bit over an hour from Sacramento. Gold Country Campground offers 78 full hook-up sites, 33 tent sites, 6 cabins, 1 cottage, and an 8 room motel. I must also mention the 2 hostesses, Meredith and Katie, are wonderful and cheery and gave a wonderful impression of the resort.
What frills and thrills do Gold Country Campground offer??? Paved main roads throughout the campground takes you to a gravel site, with deluxe sites allowing for small to very long RV’s plus one tent (we currently have a 44 foot 5th wheel), standard sites allowing for smaller 30 foot or shorter RV’s, most sites offer 50 amp, cable, water, sewer, WIFI, and picnic table. Deluxe sites also offer a wood fire pit ring. They also offer LP gas bottle exchange (20 & 30 lbs), small office store for the very basics, restrooms, showers, laundry, nature trail, day-use picnic areas, clubhouse with pool table, arcade games, horseshoe pits, kids playground, 1/3 basketball court, off-leash dog park, 18 hole mini-golf, and also a seasonal pool, water park, snack bar. As this campground is also a VERY woodsy campground, you may see some wildlife wander through your campsite now and then (we had a deer walk through our site our first trip here).
Rates vary depending on Peak or NON-Peak season:
$47 to $77 – RV Site $49 to $55 – Tent $105 to $155 – Cabin $140 to $195 – Cottage $70 to $125 – Motel Lodge Room
On my “Worth-A-Stay” scale from 1 to 10, 1 – being “HOLY HELL worthy of passing up” to 10 – being “OH MY GOD worthy of a must-visit again”, I would rate this resort as an “8” for 2 reasons. 1 – we love the woods and nature and other than going boondocking in the forest, you can’t get much closer to nature than a stay at Gold Country, and 2 – The resort needs a little decorative eye appeal cleanup to make it look nicer and get our rating of a 9 or 10.
But all in all our stay at Gold Country Campground was well worth it and I have no doubt that we will be back many times in the months and years to come.
